Against La Junta, Emma Larsen led the offense with 10 kills, while Tommie Goldberg and Michaela Boring added seven and six respectively. Brooke Gardner added five kills while dropping in three service aces. Lily Johnson patrolled the net, with three solo and two assisted blocks.

FOOTBALL

Woodland Park fell to 2-5 on the season after a 26-18 home loss to Sand Creek.

A Myles Wiley field goal and a 60-yard touchdown pass from Marqus Schoenberger to Parker Shreve helped stake the Panthers to a 10-6 lead at halftime.

Sand Creek owned the second-half scoring, though.

Shreve finished with three catches for 102 yards. Aiden Hood led Woodland Park with 88 yards rushing on 16 carries, including a late touchdown run.

Shreve also had one of the Panthers’ three sacks (Dan Campbell and Demetrius Gochis had the other two). Evan Bamesberger had two interceptions.

BOYS’ SOCCER

The Woodland Park juggernaut was slowed this past week as the Panthers dropped a pair of 1-0 decisions, the first to Atlas Prep on Oct. 10 and the second to unbeaten Manitou Springs on Oct. 12.

Noah Magistrelli was solid in goal, with 10 saves against Atlas Prep and 15 more against Manitou Springs. Magistrelli preceded these two matches with four consecutive shutouts.

The losses ended Woodland Park’s 10-match unbeaten streak.
