Vista Ridge hired Matt Wibbels as its new head football coach on Monday.

Wibbels comes to Vista Ridge after serving as Pine Creek’s defensive coordinator for over a decade. He previously held the same role at Rampart after three years as Doherty’s head coach.

Between those three stops, Wibbels has been a part of 24 postseason appearances, 12 state semifinal appearances and five state championships.

“His commitment to excellence, passion for the game, and dedication to player development make him the ideal leader to guide our student athletes,” Vista Ridge athletic director Edward McGee said in a statement. “We are confident that under Coach Wibbels' guidance, our football program will continue to thrive both on and off the field.”

Wibbels replaces Mike Vrana, who resigned after the 2023 season. In three seasons as the Wolves’ head coach, Vrana compiled a 21-13 record.
