Lewis-Palmer 12, Sand Creek 1

At Lewis-Palmer: Jason Shuger threw his second no-hitter of the year and struck out 12 during an efficient five-inning outing as Lewis-Palmer defeated Sand Creek in a 4A/5A PPAC clash.

Shuger, who also hit a solo home run for the Rangers, needed just 70 pitches, averaging 3.6 pitches per batter faced.

Hayden Ambuehl also hit a solo dinger, and Evan Walsh hit a two-run double. Colton Stegman and Brayden Curry also knocked in two runs each for Lewis-Palmer (7-3, 3-0). Brenton Dixon and Alex Weaver were also credited with an RBI each.

Sand Creek (4-6, 0-3) scored off a walk and an error in the top of the fourth.

St. Mary’s 3, Littleton 2 (9 innings)

At St. Mary’s: The Pirates trailed by two with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning when Anthony Depner smacked a two-run single to force extra innings.

Flash forward two frames and Edwin Romo hit a walk-off triple off the wall in left field to score Sam Baldwin for the win.

“We left 12 guys on base in the game and we just got clutch,” St. Mary’s coach Bill Percy said. “The amazing thing is, we played a nine-inning high school game and neither team made an error. Littleton made some great plays and we made some great plays and we finally got one to fall.”

Romo hit 2 for 5 with 3 RBIs, while Depner was 2 for 2 with two runs batted in. Depner also earned the win in relief for the Pirates (7-4).

Palmer Ridge 6, Falcon 0

At Palmer Ridge: Palmer Ridge continued its early season streak, taking down Falcon for the team’s seventh-straight win.

Charlie Deeds tossed a two-hitter and struck out a staggering 15 batters through seven innings of work. He had just two walks and threw only 99 pitches.

Deeds also had an RBI, and Josh Mills hit a solo home run. Jack Flynn and Zach Sheppard also had an RBI each. Flynn hit 2 for 3 for the Bears (9-2, 4-0 4A/5A PPAC).

Falcon (2-9, 0-4) has lost three straight.

Cheyenne Mountain 17, Discovery Canyon 8

At Discovery Canyon: Cam Buckler had a solid night at the plate, hitting 3 for 3 with five RBIs, while four other Indians had multi-RBI nights to lead Cheyenne Mountain to a 4A/5A PPAC win.

Dalton Myers (3), Brad Helton (3), Denton Damgaard (2) and Grant Mondejar (2) knocked in multiple runs for Cheyenne Mountain (7-1).

Helton got the win on the mound as he combined with Buckler and Bo Lacobbo to strike out 12 Discovery Canyon batters.

The Thunder (4-3) had 11 hits.

Air Academy 8, Vista Ridge 4

At Air Academy: Gunnar Nartker and Ethan Yanez had two RBIs each to lead Air Academy to a 4A/5A PPAC win over Vista Ridge.

James Wright, Carter Wood and Josh Duenas also had an RBI each for the Kadets (6-6, 1-2).

Senior Grant Shandy struck out 10 batters through 5.2 innings and allowed just four hits.

Vista Ridge falls to 1-7 and 0-3 in league play.

Canon City 22, Palmer 3

At Spurgeon Field: Canon City racked up 11 strikeouts and allowed just two hits as the Tigers cruised to a nonconference win over Palmer.

Kevin Redwine had the Terrors’ lone RBI.

Canon City is 6-3 while Palmer falls to 1-6.

Evangelical Christian Academy 22, Kiowa 0

At Kiowa: The Eagles scored 13 runs in the top of the second, and seven more in the fourth to capture a dominant 1A District 2-opening win over Kiowa.

After starting the season 0-2, the Eagles have won four straight.

Coronado 10, Widefield 0

At Widefield: Coronado allowed just one hit and struck out seven batters in a dominant performance over Widefield.

The win ends a two-game skid for the Cougars (2-4). James Eltagonde had the Gladiators’ lone hit. Widefield remains winless.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Fountain Valley 5, Rye 2

At Fountain Valley: Electa Clark and Eryn Mitchell scored two goals each for Fountain Valley as the Danes claimed a 2A Region 1-opening victory.

Chloe Mason had a goal and an assist for Fountain Valley. Mitchell had two assists and Clark had one helper.

Tilly Rahm had seven saves in goal to help the Danes remain undefeated.

Mitchell 1, Alameda 1

At Alameda: Two overtime periods were not enough to decide a nonconference game between Mitchell and Alameda.

The Marauders had a one-goal lead at the half, but the Pirates tied it up and eventually forced overtime in the second.

Mitchell is 2-3-1.

Palmer Ridge 3, Doherty 1

At Garry Berry: Anna Mason, Kendall Gouner and Sarah Miller scored for Palmer Ridge on the way to a nonconference win.

Heather Holter and Julia Howe split time in goal for the Bears. Howe made five stops, and Holter stopped 2 of 3.

Canon City 10, Woodland Park 1

At Woodland Park: Seven Tigers found the back of the net in a 4A CSML win over Woodland Park, led by Cassidy Heimel who netted four goals.

Kyndal West, Cailynn Andreis, Macy French, Mackenzie Roberts, Kelsea Nelson and Abigail Rupp all scored for Canon City. French also had three assists and Roberts had two.

Charlotte Eilersten had the Panther’s lone goal.

The Tigers (3-2) had 28 shots on goal. Woodland Park is still searching for its first win.

BOYS’ SWIMMING AND DIVING

Coronado 119.5, Palmer 85.5

At Palmer: Coronado won 11 of 12 events in a 5A CSML win over Palmer.

Andrew Aire won two events for the Cougars, touching the wall first in the 200 (2:18.07) and 500 (5:37.26) freestyles.

Isaac Collins was the lone Terror to win a race, claiming the 50 free with a 24.96. He narrowly placed second in the 100 free. He was beaten by Coronado’s Jackson Sawyer by just 0.42 seconds. Sawyer and Collins finished 53.24 and 53.66, respectively.

Rampart 147, Fountain-Fort Carson 38

At Rampart: Rampart opened 5A CSML competition in dominant fashion, winning each of the 12 events against Fountain-Fort Carson.

Nathan Aumiller, Scott Reeder and Seth Shyrock won two individual events each, and teamed up with Patrick Jang to win the 200 and 400 free relay races.

Reeder won the 200 (1:56.34) and 500 (5:14.37) freestyles, while Shyrock touched first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:12.66 and won the 100 back (1:00.24). Aumiller won the 50 free (24.24) and the 100 butterfly (58.42).
