With conference games on the horizon, teams will be wanting to fine tune their play.

What better way to do that than set yourself some difficult challenges in Week Four.

That's the case for the teams we look at in this week's preview of games to watch.

George Washington (2-1) vs. Mesa Ridge (2-1)

When: Thursday, 7 p.m.

Where: C.A. Foster Stadium

What to know: George Washington plays a team from the Pikes Peak region for the second time in less than a week, following last week's loss to Rampart. Mesa Ridge's offense has been stellar so far, averaging 39.3 points. Quarterback Dylan Mileto has thrown five touchdowns to four receivers, and running backs Dante Johnson and John Hubbard-Johnson have combined for nine rushing TDs.

Pine Creek (1-2) vs. Vista Ridge (2-1)

When: Friday, 7 p.m.

Where: Vista Ridge

What to know: With the new two-year cycle shifting a number of matchups and moving teams into various conferences, it was great to see this matchup remain. One of the best football rivalries in the city, this game again should not disappoint. Pine Creek is ranked No. 6 in this week's 4A Associated Press poll, while Vista Ridge is one spot better at No. 5. Pine Creek has won three straight against Vista Ridge.

The past two weeks, against two talented defenses, the Eagles have scored a total of 26 points. Vista Ridge scored 24 points last week and 49 the week before. The last two weeks the Wolves have used a quarterback tandem of Dylan Schindele and Tyler Silvester to get the job done.

Peyton (3-0) vs. Ellicott (3-1)

When: Friday, 7 p.m.

Where: Ellicott

What to know: Peyton comes in off a bye, while the Thunderhawks return after their first loss, a 66-20 setback to Bennett. Peyton running backs Wyatt Lee and Trystan Hanks have combined for 532 yards rushing and seven touchdowns. The defense has posted two shutouts and is allowing just over seven points per game. Ellicott quarterback Matthew Davidson has thrown for 774 yards and seven touchdowns and added four more TDs and another 215 yards rushing. Chiante' Stewart has rushed for six scores.
