Scouting report: The top-seeded Jaguars used a first-round bye and a 4-1 win Saturday over No. 16 Peak to Peak to reach the quarterfinals, while the Lions downed DSST: Stapleton 4-2 Saturday behind three first-half goals. The quarterfinal figures to pit Jefferson Academy’s strong defense, which has only conceded eight goals all season, against CSCS star striker Kait Halverson, a junior who entered Saturday’s game with 33 goals on the season.

Manitou Springs

Scouting report: Manitou Springs coach Ben Mack said a strong defensive effort would be needed to knock off the Sun Devils, who have outscored opponents 76-4 this season. Kent Denver’s lone loss came to Lutheran, the five seed in Class 3A. The Sun Devils own a 1-0 win over the Mustangs on March 20. Following Saturday’s win over St. Mary’s, Manitou Springs has outscored opponents 93-4 this season and has not allowed a goal in its last four games.

Class 2A

Fountain Valley

Scouting report: Class 2A is down to the semifinals with the top four seeds still alive. The Danes punched their ticket behind goals from senior Ani Love and freshman Eryn Mitchell in Friday’s 2-1 overtime win over Del Norte. Now, Fountain Valley gets Denver Christian, a team whose five losses came to Class 3A playoff teams and Dawson School, No. 1 in 2A. Sophomore Kara Amidon leads the Thunder with 23 goals and 14 assists, while senior Miranda Kortenhoeven has 19 scores and 13 helpers. Love has 24 goals and seven assists for Fountain Valley.
