5A Southern Regional

Palmer placed fourth in the 5A Southern Regional tournament, and qualified two golfers for the 5A state tournament. Palmer was led by Charlotte Cliatt who placed sixth shooting 82 on the day, and Lily Bauer, who placed 17th for the Terrors with a 92. Sarah Abercrombie shot a 98 to land a first-alternate slot.

4A Region 1

Coronado continued its strong season with a dominant showing at the 4A Region 1 tournament, coming in 20 strokes in front of second-place Cheyenne Mountain.

Pine Creek placed fourth as a team, followed by Discovery Canyon in seventh, Mesa Ridge in eighth and Sand Creek in ninth.

The Cougars placed four in the top 10 for the team title, but Cheyenne Mountain’s Maxine Choi was the area’s top placed, tied for first with a score of 78.

Coronado’s Kate Griffin shot an 80 for third place, followed by Discovery Canyon’s Christina Cheng (4th, 85), and Pine Creek’s Allison Palmer (5th, 86).

Coronado’s Madi Eurich (tied 5th, 86), Anika Hagen (7th, 88) and Hannah Burgess (9th, 90) placed in the top 10 to qualify for the 4A state tournament.


Mesa Ridge 10, Coronado 7

At Coronado: Coronado scored six runs in the final two innings of Monday’s non-conference game, but the comeback fell short as Mesa Ridge got back to .500 and ended the regular season on a two-game winning streak.

Jesse Harden led the Grizzlies with two hits and three RBIs, while Gabe Stephens hit a two-run single for Mesa Ridge (9-9).

Harden also tossed an efficient game, throwing 96 pitches in a seven-inning win. He struck out four batters and walked none.

Coronado finishes the regular season 9-10.

The Classical Academy 18, Manitou Springs 0

At The Classical Academy: John Bull hit two solo home runs as The Classical Academy racked up 14 hits in its regular season finale.

Brayden Luft hit a three-run triple for the Titans (10-9), while Stephen Smith, Brennen Strickland and Neil Baker each had two RBIs.

Smith earned the win on the mound through three innings of work, while Bull had a concise outing, striking out three of the four batters he faced, throwing just 13 pitches.

Manitou Springs ends the regular season 4-15.
