Gazette Preps 2017-18 Class 5A-4A Boys' Basketball All-Stars

 

FIRST TEAM

G: Noah Martinez, sr., Falcon - Martinez ran the show for a Falcon team that went 20-6 and earned the No. 4 seed at state, the program’s best showing in at least a decade. The senior led all players in Colorado with 7.3 assists per game and added 14.4 points per contest on 52 percent shooting.

G: Kyrele Benford, sr., Doherty - Benford finished the year as the leading scorer of a Doherty squad that went unbeaten in the Class 5A Colorado Springs Metro League and advanced to the state quarterfinals. In addition to his 13.2 points per game, Benford added eight rebounds, 2.9 assists and a steal per game.

F: Moz Doria, sr., Liberty - Doria earned the 5A CSML Player of the Year award for leading the Lancers to an 18-7 season and a trip to the round of 16. Doria put up averages of 18.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.5 blocks. His season-best 28 points came against Doherty on Jan. 25.

F: Joel Scott, jr., Lewis-Palmer - Scott earned the Class 4A Pikes Peak Athletic Conference Player of the Year award and led the Rangers to the 4A championship game with averages of 19.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.9 blocks. He scored 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds, leading a comeback that came up just short against Longmont in the final. He had four 30-point games on the year, including two in the playoffs.  

C: Dawson Carper, sr. Rampart - The Hawaii signee was among the state’s premier rim protectors, blocking 2.6 shots per game in addition to scoring 19 points and grabbing 9.8 rebounds per outing. He was at his best against Liberty on Jan. 11 when he made all 16 shots from the field for 32 points to go with 11 rebounds and four blocks. He had an 18-point, 10-rebound, 10-block triple-double against Fountain-Fort Carson the game prior. The Rams went to the round of 16 and finished 18-7.
