The Colorado Rockies, the Denver Post and the Rocky Mountain News announced their picks for the annual Top 50 all-star baseball game June 8 at Coors Field.

    The game, featuring players throughout the state, follows the 1:05 p.m. game between the Rockies and Milwaukee Brewers.

    Eight area players were selected. They are Air Academy's Ron Burton, Dexter Price and Ross Yeager; Calhan's Ben Doran; Doherty's Chris Ogawa; Fountain-Fort Carson's Shayne Hulce; Lewis-Palmer's Bobby Hansen and St. Mary's Will Percy.

COLLEGE SIGNINGS

    
Four St. Mary's seniors signed national letters of intent to play college sports at a ceremony Monday at the school. They are: Nick Grassi, baseball, Northeastern Junior College; Ethan Martinez, wrestling, Air Force Academy prep school; Will Percy, baseball, Flagler College (Fla.); and Julia Saenz, women's soccer, UCCS.

GIRLS LACROSSE
Cherry Creek 15, Heritage 12
At Douglas County Stadium: McKenzie Brown scored seven goals to lead topseeded Cherry Creek (15-2) to its third state title in a row and seventh championship since 1999 over No. 3 Heritage (16-3). Heritage's Anna Wallingford made 17 saves while Olivia Annalora, Elizabeth Dantino and Anna Salemo each scored four goals. The Bruins did not lose to a Colorado team this spring. Their last loss to a Colorado team was 12-8 to Kent Denver in 2006.
