Class 4A swimming notebook: Rangers relay settles for 2nd
Comments 0 | Recommend 0LOVELAND - Lewis-Palmer’s 200-yard medley relay opened Saturday’s competition at the Class 4A state swimming championships with a tight race against Thompson Valley. The Rangers stayed close but lost by 0.06 of a second.
Although it was tough to lose by that narrow of a margin, coach Terre Christensen couldn’t have been happier as her team shaved 2 seconds off its best time and set a school record.
“They couldn’t have done anymore,” she said. “That’s the best relay I’ve put together in 10 years.”
Indians’ Wahl ready for more
Cheyenne Mountain’s Danielle Wahl said she was pleased — but not satisfied — with her runner-up finish in the 500-yard freestyle.
The junior maintains that she can improve on her weekend performance. If anything, the second-place prize provides motivation to get better and possibly win a title next year.
“Absolutely,” said Wahl, who had the fourth best time in Friday’s preliminaries. “I’m always motivated, always ready to get better.”
