Late 'garbage goal' spoils Kadets' comeback
CASTLE ROCK - Heritage junior Elizabeth Datino has a knack for "taking it to the goal in the pressure situations," coach Nikki Kucharski said.
Datino did just that Saturday, putting herself in the right place at the right time to score a fortuitous goal with 13 seconds left that lifted Heritage to a 13-12 win over No. 2 seed Air Academy in the girls lacrosse state semifinals at Douglas County Stadium.
No. 3 Heritage (16-2) ended the Kadets' bid for a perfect season and will play two-time defending champ Cherry Creek for the title Wednesday.
