Pueblo East turns to defense, then turns away Widefield

After crafting a 21-1 regular season record, the Eagles have convincingly won a pair of playoff games to land in the Great 8 for the first time since 2003.
"In my first three years, we hadn't won a playoff game," junior Jordan Gregory said. "I just want to make sure I live every moment to the fullest while we're still playing."
East showed all of its rugged physicality in a stifling defensive effort that produced a 58-35 win over Widefield on Saturday in the Sweet 16 of the Class 4A state playoffs at Massari Arena. The top-seeded Eagles (23-1) advance to the Guys Gibbs Region final against No. 7 Windsor (17-9) on Friday at the Colorado School of Mines. Windsor advanced with a 76-62 win over No. 3 Broomfield on Saturday.
