The push for playoff berths continues.
DOHERTY (0-8) AT PALMER (0-8), 7 p.m. Friday: Even in a dreadful season, these schools are big-time rivals and neither obviously wants to risk finishing the season without a victory. Palmer, under first-year coach Justin Rich, hasn’t been within shouting distance of a victory since a 20-17 loss to Montbello in the season opener. Doherty, under the direction of area newcomer David Joyce, has been more competitive with close losses to Castle View and Heritage. Records aside, talent remains at both schools. Doherty junior Zach Young has rushed for 681 yards, and Palmer senior Travon Charity has 675 rushing yards.
