GIRLS’ SOCCER
Rampart 1, Liberty 0
At D-20 Stadium: Kellyn Padgett scored on an assist from Bailey Barton as Rampart (8-3-2, 2-0-2 5A Metro) notched a key league victory.
Lancers goalie Andrea Stump turned away the two shots she faced against Liberty (4-7-2, 1-2-1).
Pine Creek 2, Palmer 0
At D-20 Stadium: Annie Wooldridge scored unassisted goals in each half for Pine Creek (6-3-2, 1-0-1 5A Metro), and Bri Legaspi made seven saves in the shutout.
Palmer (2-7-3, 0-1-3) had 10 saves from goalie Andi Tostanoski.
Lewis-Palmer 11, Wasson 0
At Wasson: Three players scored two goals and Lewis-Palmer scored 11 times in the first half.
Erika Balk, Nicole Belisairo and Kourtney Guetlein each connected twice for the Rangers (7-3-1, 5-1 4A Metro), who enter the league’s crossover tournament as a No. 2 seed and could force a matchup with unbeaten Palmer Ridge – their in-town rivals – in the second round.
Wasson drops to 1-11, 0-7.
Air Academy 6, Coronado 0
At Air Academy: Six players scored for Air Academy (10-2, 4-1 4A Metro), which scored three in each half as it secured a No. 2 seed for the league’s crossover tournament.
Caren Nelson scored and had two assists for the Kadets.
Coronado (8-4, 5-2) is a No. 3 seed.
BASEBALL
Doherty 5, Palmer 2
At Dohety: Dusty Kachel tripled and drove in a run and his brother Cory had two hits, including a double, as Doherty shook off a three-game skid.
The Spartans (3-11, 2-8) led 3-0 after three innings when Palmer (4-10, 0-10) scored its first run. The Terrors scored single runs in the fourth and sixth, but Doherty answered each time.
Jonathon Vieira led the way for Palmer, going 2-for-2 with an RBI.
Doherty had lost nine of 10, but five of those losses came by three runs or fewer.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
Liberty 7, CSCS 0
At Liberty: Three matches went to Liberty in forfeits, and the Lancers made the other four only slightly more competitive with wins in straight sets in each match.
CSCS took more than one game in only two sets and was outscored in overall games 48-7.
Liberty’s Kirsten Jenson won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.
Vanguard 5, Discovery Canyon 2
At Discovery Canyon: Vanguard won a pair of three-set matches – including a third-set tiebreaker at No. 3 singles – marking the difference in the dual.
Whitney Schuck won the match for the Coursers at No. 3 singles, topping Discovery Canyon’s Jones 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (4).
The No. 4 doubles match also went the distance, with Vanguard winning 6-1, 4-6, 6-1.
Fountain Valley 6, Cheyenne Mountain JV 1
At Fountain Valley: Fountain Valley took every match except No. 3 doubles, which went to Cheyenne Mountain 2-6, 6-2, 10-7.
BOYS’ LACROSSE
Cheyenne Mountain 8, Denver East 7
At Cheyenne Mountain: Matt Clancy scored three goals and Cheyenne Mountain climbed to a 4-3 lead in the second quarter and made that advantage stand up.
The Indians also had two goals from McKinnon Hokanson.
