Friday's roundup: Harrison stays unbeaten with big road win
Highlights from Friday's high school action in the Pikes Peak region:
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Harrison 60, Alameda 55
At Alameda: Andre Pepper scored 18 points, Thomas Jackson added 15 points, 10 rebounds and five assists as Harrison (2-0) earned what coach Al Blanc labeled a “good win on the road.”
Lindford Ocloo had six steals and five assists and Quincy Harding had 11 points for the Panthers.
Fountain-Fort Carson 48, Palisade 45
At Palisade: Al Davis scored 15 points as Fountain-Fort Carson (1-1) earned its first victory.
Eight players scored at least two points for the Trojans, who made 18-of-42 field goals.
Wasson 61, Palmer 39
At Palmer: DJ Hanes scored 21 points and Richie Perea added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists to keep Wasson undefeated (2-0) and the Terrors winless (0-2).
St. Mary’s 62, TCA 59
At St. Mary’s: Senior Daniel Padrnos went off for 33 points, making 17-of-18 free throws, as St. Mary’s (1-0) won a thriller in the season opener for both teams.
Hunter Holmes scored 15 points and had 11 rebounds for the Pirates.
Lewis-Palmer 62, Fruita Monument 31
At Fruita Monument: Defending 4A champion Lewis-Palmer didn’t miss a beat, racing ot a 35-6 halftime lead in its opener.
Chas Stone scored 20 points and Jordan Scott added 18 for the Rangers (1-0).
Mesa Ridge 57, Dolores Huerta Prep 35
At Pueblo Centennial Tournament: Sabin Eubanks and Elijah Gilbert each scored 11 points as Mesa Ridge (1-0) outscored Dolores Huerta (0-1) in every quarter.
Sand Creek 67, Pine Creek 47
At Pine Creek: Dylan Clark scored 16 points and Josh Smith had 15 to lead Sand Creek (1-0) to an opening victory.
Bryan Jenkins added 11 points for the Scorpions.
Pine Creek, which trailed 17-9 after the first quarter, was paced by Joey Black’s 14 points.
Vanguard 51, Love Christian 40
At Vanguard: Vanguard held Love Christian to two first-quarter points in building a 10-point lead in an opening victory.
Tim Force scored 21 points Coursers.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Liberty 48, Lewis-Palmer 34
At Liberty: Alex Rivas scored 15 points and Liberty (2-1) outscored Lewis-Palmer (0-3) 21-7 in the second quarter to take over the game.
Rampart 46, Air Academy 39
At Air Academy: Defending 4A state champion Air Academy (2-1) suffered its first loss since Jan. 7 as it dropped its final game in the three-day 4A-5A Challenge.
Macy Myers scored 14 points for Rampart (3-0).
Palmer 74, CSCS 16
At Palmer: Jenn Urbaniak, Lensy Hardy and Jasmine Green all scored in double figures as the Terrors (2-0) erupted for 34 points in the first quarter in a rout of CSCS (0-2).
ECA 63, Fountain Valley 35
At Fountain Valley: Senior Abby Dorman scored 26 points as Evangelical Christian (1-0) rolled in its opener.
Tori Mann added 18 points for ECA.
Palmer Ridge 50, Canon City 48
At Palmer Ridge: Ali Meyer scored a game-high 16 points, and MacKenzie Gouner added 14 as the Bears opened the season with a comeback victory over the Tigers (1-1).
Sophomore Nicole Archambeau led Canon City with 13 points.
Fruita Monument 48, Woodland Park 20
At Woodland Park: Hannah Erickson scored seven points, but the Panthers (0-1) couldn’t keep pace as the Wildcats pulled away in the second half.
Salida 46, James Irwin 25
At James Irwin: Freshman Moriah Ceballes scored 10 points, but the Jaguars fell behind 14-2 and never recovered.
HOCKEY
Kent Denver 3, Lewis-Palmer 1
At Monument: Casey McMullin scored for the Rangers, who enjoyed a 33-23 edge in shots, but the Sun Devils scored twice in the third period for the nonconference win in the season opener for both teams.
